You may have seen collection bins
around Selsey asking people to donate unwanted spectacles.
This is a project run by Lions all around the world, whereby
all unwanted spectacles are sent to third world countries and
given to people with sight problems.
No-one can deny that sight is very
important. Lions Clubs are committed to raising awareness of
the importance of looking after your eye sight.
Selsey & District
Lions contribute to these projects by the collection of
unwanted spectacles. If you have any spectacles that you no
longer use and you would like to help someone less fortunate
than yourself that either can not afford spectacles or may not
have access to opticians as we do, donating them is easy. Go
to one of the places listed, where you will find a collection
bin with the Selsey Lions Club logo on, and simply place your
unwanted spectacles in the bin.
All spectacles donated
are sent to a processing centre in Chichester where they are
sorted, packed and then shipped directly to third world
countries. |
